The Ren0 Gazette-Journal reports that several immigrants detained in a recent raid are getting immigration help from attorneys. The attorneys were attending a conference in nearby Lake Tahoe when they heard about the raid. The article goes on to say,”the lawyers answered questions from the public, advised them of numbers to call to inform themselves about the status of their family members. They also gave advice about what to do in case they are confronted by an immigration officer or detained, such as not opening the door unless they show a warrant signed by a judge and exercising the right to remain silent. Then they provided complimentary consultation on a case-by-case basis.”
